The medical transcription industry has changed  quite a bit in the past 20 years.  Many of these changes have been positive ones, including the technology available to do the job.  Savvy transcriptionists have on-line references available at their fingertips.  No longer do transcriptionists need to maintain large libraries or make midnight runs to the medical school library to research terminology.  Similarly, word processing programs and transcription platforms make the keyboarding functions close to effortless. 

Many medical transcription services are part of large conglomerates that do much more than offer medical transcription services, including operating medical transcription schools, developing software platforms, and selling transcription hardware and software packages to healthcare organizations.  What often happens is the medical transcription side of the business becomes an afterthought.  You will dictate CABG and will be presented with cabbage and no one seems to care.

Early on, Medical Transcription Associates decided that it would focus on the quality of the transcript.  At the present time, there are many technology companies that have developed amazing products that we happily use; there is no need for us to reinvent the wheel and develop our own branded version of these products, mark them up, and resell them.

Who Uses Transcription VIP?

All of our dictators are given the Transcription VIP service.  Here are some examples where Transcription VIP is especially helpful. 

• A large facility has a handful of dictators who complain about the quality of work they are receiving from their transcription provider.  The facility is overall satisified with the quality and economy of the present service.  They choose Transcription VIP to serve those few dictators.
• A physician in a solo practice has employed the same secretary for 20 years.  She needs to take a much-deserved three-week vacation.  Transcription VIP can hold down the fort for those three weeks. 
• A radiologist in a small practice dislikes the new front-end voice recognition system.  Everyone else loves it.  Transcription VIP will transcribe that one particular doctor's dictation.
• A pathologist's office needs to have not only its dictation transcribed, but also coded.  Transcription VIP can do that too! Many of MTA's transcriptionists are also certified AHIMA coders.
  
• A practitioner has been deposed, but he would prefer his office staff not have access to the deposition.  Transcription VIP can take care of this one-time project with sensitivity and discretion.
